If you’re struggling to find inspiration for next summer’s holiday, there’s a new option that could have you tipping your cowboy hat and soaking up some good ol’ Southern charm in Texas, USA.
From 4 May 2020, KLM will be operating a three-times-weekly service to the city of Austin in Texas. With simple connections from Newcastle International Airport, the new direct service will make it quicker and easier than ever for travellers from the North East to reach the second-largest state in the U.S.
Whether you want to explore the rest of this huge state, visit the NASA space centre in Houston or unearth the history of the Alamo, or use it as a starting point for your Deep South road trip, this flight is great news for those wishing to discover the charms of America’s southern states.
However, Austin shouldn’t be dismissed as merely a stepping board. A big city with a small-town heart, Austin locals are famously friendly and socialising is always high on the agenda. Renowned for its wealth of live music, catching a gig (or several!) is a must when you’re in town, but food and drink follow closely on this city’s list of priorities. With more breweries than any other city in Texas, make sure you don’t miss out on sampling some of Austin’s best beers – the perfect accompaniment to delicious Texan BBQ!
